Musselburgh Baptist Church - Christianity Explored
E-mail
Who is Christianity Explored for?

Christianity Explored is for anyone who wants to investigate Christianity informally with a group of other people. Whether you have previous experience of Church, Christians and the Bible, or none at all, this course is for you. Everyone is welcome - from the most sympathetic Sunday schooler to the convinced atheist. We will respect your background, culture and beliefs. Tell us as little or as much about yourself as you feel comfortable.

What goes on?

A meal is usually provided at the start of the evening (typically 7pm), so don't worry if you have to come straight from work. The course is normally run in several groups of 6-9 people, and after briefly discussing the course material from the week before, there is a talk or DVD, then informal discussion in groups. The course is run in a fun and informal way, there is no pressure, no prayer, singing, we won't embarrass anyone in any way.

The last course concluded in June 2009.  A new course will commence during 2010. Contact Associate Pastor Andy Dalrymple on 07768 096 281 for more information.

What subjects does the course deal with? How does it run?

The course lasts for nine weeks and is designed to be relaxed, informative and helpful. Each week there is a presentation on one key element of the Christian message, and plenty of time for discussion and questions. You're not asked to pray, sing, or read aloud, and you can ask any question you like. Or, if you prefer, you can come along and simply listen.

We're more wicked than we ever realised, but more loved than we ever dreamed.

During the course, participants are introduced to the person of Christ as he walks off the pages in Mark's Gospel, and provided with the information they need to choose to follow Christ in the life of "obedience that comes from faith" (Romans 1:5). Split broadly into three sections, the course allows participants to discover what Christianity is, what the Christian life is like and what it means to follow Christ.
